Our mobile grocery market is one of our future goals. It will be a specially designed truck with fresh and organic fruits and
vegetables sold below market cost directly to identified food apartheid area in South
Philadelphia. This initiative aims to create sustainable food access in communities with limited
options.
The Feeding America defines food insecurity as a lack of access, at times to enough food for an active healthy life or not knowing where your next meal is coming from.
Supermarket sales in Philadelphia are concentrated, instead of being dispersed throughout
the city in relation to the population. This indicates that many people are traveling
considerable distances to buy food at supermarkets in the few neighborhoods where
supermarkets are easily accessible.

Low-income Philadelphia residents are likely to suffer from diet-related health problems
such as heart disease, cancer and diabetes at rates significantly higher than those of the population as a whole.
The Food Trust, 2022.
The region’s supermarket deficit could be eased and diet-related health problems
decreased through a highly visible initiative to build more supermarkets in lower-income
neighborhoods, and improve the health and nutrition of the children who live here.
